Last night at a restaurant I got up to pay for my food.
The Waiter: And where are you from?
Me: The US
The Waiter: So you are on a vacation here?
Me. No, I'm an exchange student here.
The Waiter: Oh, so that is why your German is nearly perfect then!

(I really doubt that my German is so close to being perfect, but getting my German complimented on is one of the best things (: )
